Thornapple River - Skill Level: Beginner

Photo-Thornapple RiverThe Thornapple River is an easygoing stream that winds  through southwest Michigan woodlands. The Thornapple River is one of the Grand River’s major tributaries. The upper sections of the Thornapple in Eaton County to Thornapple Lake, are too narrow and tangled for enjoyable canoeing. The river below Irving consists of a series of dam-created reservoirs that are heavily developed. In between, is a 14-mile stretch of river  suitable for family outings.
